State Requirements
The state imposes strict guidelines that all traffic education programs must follow.
1. All student must have at least 25 contact days.
2. 42 hours of classroom
3. 12 hours of observation
4. 6 hours of driving

Class Times
During the school year classes will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. Students will do their driving after school and on Saturdays. Driving after school is 2 hours for each group. On Saturday students groups will drive for 1.5 hours.

Summer hours: Classes start at 10:00 am or at 12:00 noon. Classes are two hours long. Driving will take place before or after class. Depends which class you sign up for.

Registration
Registration must be in person. Student does not have to be present to register.

To register you will need the following:
1. Birth certificate or passport
2. Social Security card
3. $270.00 (Check or cash)

Students must be at least 14 1/2 years old when their class starts.

NOTICE: WE TEACH TRAFFIC EDUCATION TO STUDENTS THAT ARE ATTENDING OR WILL BE ATTENDING SCHOOL DISTRICT 5 SCHOOLS. WE DON'T REGISTER ADULTS!

Your First License
After six months from the beginning of the traffic education class students may apply for the restricted license. You will need to bring the following to the Driver Licensing Office:
1. Original birth certificate
2. Logbook (50 hours of supervised driving)
3. TELL license
4. Social Security Card
5. Money to pay for license
6. Proof or residence
7. Corrective lenses
In case you are asked to take the DOJ driving test make sure you have a vehicle in good working order, current registration and proof of insurance.
Classroom Location
We offer classes at Flathead High School in the autoshop and at Glacier High School.
Practice Driving
Students will begin driving with the instructor within 3-4 days after the class begins. Students will drive in groups of three and drive for 30 minutes at a time. Driving groups will drive for two hours and drive once or twice during the week. Every student must drive on Saturday. Driving schedules will be determined the first week of class.
